Web Developer

About the role…

We’re looking for an enthusiastic, talented Web Developer to help our team make the best customer-facing web pages, with page speed, technology and usability at the forefront of their mind.

You’ll have the opportunity to work on a range of front end frameworks, ranging from jQuery to React. You will be working on our AMP and SSG pages to provide a great user experience across multiple platforms. Building responsive mobile designs and optimising for mobile first indexing is how we work, always thinking mobile first.  And you’ll be improving our engine functionality with iterations and improvements in most sprints, utilizing split-testing.  

Our team must anticipate and react to changes in Google and work to deliver the web pages that perform ahead of the market. Problem-solving is key; identifying solutions and writing the best code for particular elements and pages of our sites.  Getting your code live and making a difference straight away is what we’re all about!

People Executive – Part Time (30 hrs)

Working for the Holiday Extras group, you’ll be supporting two very distinct businesses – focusing particularly on Airparks whilst working as part of the wider Holiday Extras People Team. As your client group is spread across multiple sites in Birmingham and Luton, you’ll be an expert in building strong relationships remotely as well as happy to travel regularly to the sites.

FP&A Analyst

We’re looking for a new FP&A Analyst to join us on the Holiday Extras campus and become part of our finance planning team. The workload and environment is fast-paced, but the atmosphere is fun.

We want our FP&A Analyst to bring their brilliant analytical, technical and communication skills to support and drive the performance of the business. You will be part of a small and thriving FP&A team and will work collaboratively with key internal trading partners to deliver a timely and robust forecast.  In addition, you will be responsible for monitoring and reporting trading performance on a weekly and monthly basis and communicate key factors and trends influencing performance which will help support the business to take corrective action.  You will also provide vital support to the FP&A manager on a range of activities to help support the business on decision making to achieve our strategic objectives.

You’ll be part qualified or newly qualified (ACA/ACMA or equivalent) and have a minimum of 2 years experience, preferably in a commercial finance or FP&A role. You’ll have a passion for all things finance coupled with an appetite for continuous improvement and demonstrate a strong understanding of materiality.  SQL knowledge preferable though not essential.

Holiday Extras are on the lookout for an Email Developer to join our email marketing team! The Email team’s job is to communicate with every one of our over 5 million signed up customers in a relevant, entertaining and timely way. When people interact with our emails it makes us a happy team; when people click that dreaded unsubscribe link it make us sad: so it’s important that we send the right messages, at the right time.

We’re an unusual mix of techy and creative and this is what enables us to code responsive emails, write SQL, create clever dynamic marketing campaigns, and understand our databases. Not to mention, designing email templates and coming up with new marketing strategies to help boost our performance.

You’ll be designing and executing email marketing strategies to focus on opportunities that enable us to grow our email ‘opt-in’ list. Ownership is key; you’ll be managing various email campaigns with a variety of teams across the business. You might be working with other trading or marketing teams or even collaborating with the European part of the business.

We use the latest software to create engaging experiences our customers expect across multiple devices and lifecycles. We are looking for an innovative Front End Developer to work in our growing web team who will be responsible for delivering robust and performant web solutions across our platform. You will have the freedom to deliver the best solution for the challenges the business puts in front of you and will be given the resources and time you need to get the job done.

You will have significant, proven capability in front end development with an in-depth knowledge of the basic front end technologies (HTML, CSS and JS) and exposure to the modern technologies such as React, and pre processors such as PostCSS and LESS. Holiday Extras are looking for software engineers to come and use cutting edge technology to helps us revolutionise how customers (7 million and growing) travel better.

You can expect to be working daily with Javascript, using continuous delivery tooling. We’re in the process of moving to an API first micro services architecture and your skills and experience will be key in helping us achieve that, alongside helping us continue to deliver features that delight our customers and partners. We’ve got a lot of great work to do and believe in using tried and tested tools that enable us to push the boundaries of what is possible, fast. You can expect to be working daily building APIs with Javascript and Node.js®, using continuous delivery tooling and, if you’re feeling ambitious jumping into our front end and working with React.js and Redux.js. We build many of our tools in-house but also love open source so as well as taking much from the community you’ll find a lot of our codebase openly available on GitHub.

Here’s what we’re looking for:

  • You’re a “been there and done it” software engineer looking to make an positive impact on millions of people.
  • Experience of shipping software using technologies such as Javascript/Node.js®. Ideally, you also have experience in other languages which shows you curiosity to experiment and learn.
  • You have previously designed API’s and shipped HTTP and Pub/Sub Services.
  • A desire to understand the business and where it’s heading.
  • A track record of being solutions focussed and an excellent problem solver, not afraid to make decisions and act quickly.
  • Always determined to acquire new skills and learn.
  • You understand the value of open source as demonstrated in your Github profile.
  • Demonstrable interest and experience in microservices architecture and highly scalable distributed web platforms.
  • A pragmatic approach to software delivery, understanding the pros (and cons) of shipping early and often.
