Learning and Organisational Development Specialist

Up to £35,000 DOE + Profit Share + Benefits

We are looking for an exceptional person to join our People Team as a Learning and Organisational Development Specialist. We work in an environment where you can make things happen fast. The business has invested in an onsite Academy for learning and development and this role plays a huge part in delivering its mission.

This role will have 3 key focuses:  

 

  • Driving a Learning Culture- Designing and delivering learning events in our Academy, using learning technologies and ideas such as micro learning to support personal development and raise the performance bar. Partnering with Managers to assess team and individual development needs. Shaping learning interventions that are not only engaging but clearly linked to improving business performance and delivering our objectives.
  • Developing Managers- Support new and existing Managers to develop themselves to make a difference, inspire team performance and drive the business and brand. Running development programmes, facilitating workshops and action learning, coaching managers and overseeing the learning cycle.
  • Supporting Career Progression-working with the Head of Organisational Development and wider People Team to embed our Talent Strategy and Performance tools. Acting as a career coach; spotting and developing potential across the business.

 

Here’s what we are looking for….

  • Strong working knowledge of Performance Management .
  • Proven experience in coaching.
  • Experience working with online learning tools.
  • Experience in delivering Management Development.
  • Experience in the delivery of a Talent Management programme.
  • Strong facilitation skills, using a variety of accelerated learning techniques.
  • Ability to identify and assess development needs according to team and business requirements, including sourcing external solutions whilst acting within a budget.
  • Ability to evaluate learning and development interventions and to assess the ROI.
  • A track record of building and maintaining strong business relationships.
  • Confidence in communicating at all levels with good influencing skills
  • The ability to manage a demanding and flexible workload.
  • Excellent technical skills.

Desirable

  • Experience of introducing or managing a Learning Management System.
  • Experience of working in a fast paced and agile environment .
  • A relevant degree, coaching or CIPD qualification.

The role and opportunity

You are an experienced Recruitment Manager with a wealth of knowledge and experience in driving recruitment strategy to source and recruit exceptional talent, as well as in developing a world-class recruitment team. You will be an experienced coach who will enable our recruitment execs to play to their strengths and support ongoing development.  As a champion of the candidate experience you’ll ensure that our values and employer brand are threaded through all recruitment activity. You’ll have experience recruiting tech talent into a fast-paced, tech business with a passion for the “tech world”.

We are looking for someone who is super organised, methodical and can manage a small team alongside getting hands-on with the business recruitment. You will be a driven, self starter that is passionate about people and of course calm under pressure as we deal with a high volume of applications across all roles.

What you will be doing

  • To lead, manage and develop our recruitment team and strategy in line with the business’s strategic goals.
  • Designing and creating selection processes and assessments.
  • Interviewing and running assessment days.
  • Sourcing candidates through innovative methods and screening relevant applicants for shortlisting.
  • Producing, maintaining and analysing recruitment metrics.
  • Liaising with external recruitment agencies.
  • Getting stuck in with whatever is priority to ensure that the team continue to exceed expectations and perform at a high level.
  • Playing your part as as a member of the wider people team and supporting our mission to make Holiday Extras an amazing place to work and learn.

Essential:

HelpDesk Engineer (12 months fixed term)

Holiday Extras are looking for a HelpDesk Engineer to come and use cutting edge technology to help the team revolutionise how customers (7 million and growing) travel better.

The Holiday Extras group is growing at a phenomenal rate. With more people joining, we’re expanding our HelpDesk team to ensure we can keep giving our customers a great experience. We have 3 friendly and enthusiastic members in our current HelpDesk team, who all enjoy getting a user back to work, and hate to see them struggling.

We are 100% Apple Mac based with over 1000 devices across 2 sites in the UK and one in Europe. We are an approved Apple Authorised Repair Centre which allows us to carry out all our own repairs and servicing, we also offer support for all tech related queries like Office, eMail, phones (iPhones, of course) along with all the other day to day helpdesk duties.

We are big on automation and self service which will be a key part to this role, being able to spot opportunities to automate and innovate is key. We’ve made a start by introducing Munki across the business, which streamlines machine configuration and setup. We are now looking to introduce Munki to the rest of the HX group, giving a high-standard of user experience across all our users.

Here’s what you’ll be doing:

  • You will have autonomy and responsibility to solve the interesting problems we face daily.
  • You will be the first point of call for our Help desk
  • You will be working closely with our Apple Engineers with prioritising tickets
  • You’ll be working closely with the Holiday Extras staff around the group to come up with solutions to help make their lives better.
  • Solving problems relating to mission critical services and build automation to prevent problem recurrence. The goal being to automating all non-exceptional service conditions.
  • You will develop your career in a strong team with a well-defined culture, that is building a fast-moving, disruptive business.
  • You will lead and assist in solving challenges and delivering innovative new experiences with other team’s alongside supporting our other businesses.
  • You will be covering 2 different locations (about 4 miles apart) with visits to our European office too.
  • You will be doing out of hours support (1 in 4) but that’s a good incentive to automate.
  • You’re going to have a lot of fun!

Senior Email Marketing Developer

Holiday Extras are on the lookout for an experienced Email Developer to join our email marketing team! The Email team’s job is to communicate with every one of our over 5 million signed up customers in a relevant, entertaining and timely way. When people interact with our emails it makes us a happy team; when people click that dreaded unsubscribe link it make us sad: so it’s important that we send the right messages at the right time.

We’re an unusual mix of techy and creative and this is what enables us to code responsive emails, write SQL, create clever dynamic marketing campaigns, and understand our databases as well as designing email templates and coming up with new strategies to help boost our performance.

We use the latest software to create engaging experiences our customers expect across multiple devices and lifecycles and always strive to innovate in order to deliver the best experience. The Role

We are looking for an innovative Front End Developer to work in our growing web team who will be responsible for delivering robust and performant web solutions across our platform. You will have the freedom to deliver the best solution for the challenges the business puts in front of you and will be given the resources and time you need to get the job done.

You will have significant, proven capability in front end development with an in-depth knowledge of the basics (HTML, CSS and JS) and also experience using React and pre processors such as PostCSS and LESS. You must also have experience in building for all devices as our responsive projects are essential for the development of our websites.

Some experience in Node.js and Redux would be advantageous and you will be expected to keep up with ever changing technology and where possible, be ahead of the game.

Holiday Extras are looking for software engineers to come and use cutting edge technology to helps us revolutionise how customers (7 million and growing) travel better.

We’ve got a lot of great work to do and believe in using tried and tested tools that enable us to push the boundaries of what is possible, fast. You can expect to be working daily with Javascript, using continuous delivery tooling. If you’re updating and building in our back end we use Node.js® and if you’re jumping into our front end you’d be working with React.js and Redux.js, just to name a few technologies.

We know great Engineers can adapt to other tech quickly, so if javascript isn’t your thing right now that’s not a deal breaker as long as you want to learn! We build many of our tools in-house but also love open source so as well as taking much from the community you’ll find a lot of our codebase openly available on GitHub and how we work on our culture repo.

You can expect to be working daily building APIs with Javascript and Node.js®, using continuous delivery tooling and, if you’re feeling ambitious jumping into our front end and working with React.js and Redux.js. We want our Lead to bring their brilliant coaching and management skills to drive the performance of our incredible engineers by helping the team achieve their goals and perform at their best. You will be motivating and inspiring and can expertly balance people’s individual needs with the needs of Holiday Extras.

You will be part of our growing web team and work collaboratively within our Pod structure to support the delivery of great products, booking flows and apps for our customers.  

You’ll have several years of experience managing people and have a strong level of technical understanding. You don’t necessarily have had to have been a programmer yourself, but you should have worked in an agile environment where performance and delivery are key. Depending on your background, will also depend on what other areas of the web team you get involved with. You can be guaranteed however, that no two days will be the same.
