What we’re offering

An opportunity to cover maternity leave in a fast paced, dynamic and entrepreneurial Commercial department. The Holiday Extras Shortbreaks Commercial team are responsible for optimising our gross margin, developing and implementing our business growth strategy and managing our supplier relationships with 250+ UK hotels. You will play a key part in this by supporting our Contract Manager’s in their delivery of theme and theatre products to business.

You will work with a variety of hotels ranging from independent hotels, B&B’s, self-catering accommodation and globally managed chain properties. Your role will also involve working closely with a variety of theatre and ticketing suppliers. Whilst the majority of your time will be spent liaising internally with other teams and externally with suppliers, you may also need to pick up the phone to speak to our customers directly about their breaks.

Who we’re looking for

Someone who has a background of working in travel and preferably hotels and ideally, someone who has experience in a senior admin role. You will need to be adaptable with the ability to learn quickly and efficiently. You will also need to be a strong team player with a proven track record in delivery, working with a range of teams in a fast growing business.  

We are looking for someone who is resilient, strong and determined with a keen eye for detail and the ability to learn quickly and ‘on your feet’. The fast paced nature of this role means you will need to be able to self-prioritise and organise your work continuously. You will need to be comfortable to be customer and supplier facing and deal with both professionally and appropriately.

What you'll be doing...

  • Liaising with clients on their instructions with recommendations or mockups to showcase ideas and iterating where necessary to help ensure the best end result
  • Supporting responsive designs across multiple devices
  • Researching design trends and how key visuals and layouts affect the customer experience
  • Delivering high quality visuals for multi-channel marketing activities conforming to brand guidelines and third-party requirements
  • Understanding creative principles with typography, imagery and colour to create the right look

Who we're looking for...

Email Marketing Manager

We’re looking for an experienced Email Marketing Manager to join us on the Holiday Extras campus and lead our Email Team. Our award-winning Email Team at manages and delivers email communications to our 6 million subscribed customers; from direct and intermediary customers to our partnerships retail agents. These communications stretch across multiple brands and are for a variety of purposes such as sales, transactions and product information. We’re the channel by which our product, customer and commercial teams communicate at scale with their customers.

We think of ourselves as the curators of the customer journey. The emails we create and send are most customers’ most frequent exposure to our brand personality – they have to be good. To that end, we identify the right communication points and develop dynamic email designs that house the right content for the customer and our business. What you’ll be doing

You will be integral to developing the best email journeys with clarity, technology and usability at the forefront of your mind. You will have responsibility for a core part of our customer experience, developing plans to improve the experience to create a personalised “wow” effect. Working closely with the team and wider business, you will decide on what improvements or changes to launch, test or retire. As much as possible, everything we do should be driven by data; you’ve got to be inquisitive and hungry for data. You will form hypotheses on what success will look like and ensure you have the measurements in place to know the impact.

You don’t necessarily have had to have been a Email Developer yourself, but you should have worked in an customer driven, agile environment where performance and delivery are key. As a motivated and ambitious team player you’ll champion the development and wellbeing of the Email Team and encourage them to be the best version themselves.

You’ll know what amazing looks (and feels) like. You’ll act as a delivery manager for campaigns and use data to make commercial marketing decisions, collaborating with our Email Strategist. You’ll be a champion of our brand and focused on how to inform and delight our customers. Creativity is key here; expressing our purpose and brand through creative and engaging content and imagery and driving the customer experience. You will work as part of our wider Business Insight (BI) team whose remit is to partner with the business to understand trading performance, inform stakeholders of threats and or opportunities, and influence key decision making.

 

You’ll already have analytical experience and a proven track record of contributing towards growth as well as an advanced knowledge of excel and strong data modelling skills (including forecasting). Prior knowledge of writing freehand SQL, appreciation of split testing best practices, and an awareness of various data visualisation tools are desired but not essential.

Whilst continually focusing on underwriter performance, ensuring our products are profitable and sustainable from a commercial perspective.

You will be part of our growing Insurance business and work collaboratively within the wider team to support the delivery of great products and the insurance 5 year plan.   

As a tenacious self starter with experience in the insurance industry, you’ll work to innovate our current product portfolio enhancing the customer offering and audience whilst generating a greater return. As a strong technical specialist you will have a solid understanding of legal and FCA regulations and be able to bring these into your work. You’ll use your knowledge of the insurance market to deliver products that are tailored to our customers. About the role…

We’re looking for an enthusiastic, talented Web Developer to help our team make the best customer-facing web pages, with page speed, technology and usability at the forefront of their mind.

You’ll have the opportunity to work on a range of front end frameworks, ranging from jQuery to React. You will be working on our AMP and SSG pages to provide a great user experience across multiple platforms. Building responsive mobile designs and optimising for mobile first indexing is how we work, always thinking mobile first.  And you’ll be improving our engine functionality with iterations and improvements in most sprints, utilizing split-testing.  

Our team must anticipate and react to changes in Google and work to deliver the web pages that perform ahead of the market. Problem-solving is key; identifying solutions and writing the best code for particular elements and pages of our sites.  Getting your code live and making a difference straight away is what we’re all about!

You are:

  • Significantly experienced in supporting client groups with a variety of employees at varying levels
  • Able to work alone with the ability to manage changing priorities within an 24/7 operational environment
  • Either legally qualified or are CIPD fully-qualified or equivalent levels of education

The Role

We are looking for an innovative Front End Developer to work in our growing web team who will be responsible for delivering robust and performant web solutions across our platform. You will have the freedom to deliver the best solution for the challenges the business puts in front of you and will be given the resources and time you need to get the job done.

You will have significant, proven capability in front end development with an in-depth knowledge of the basic front end technologies (HTML, CSS and JS) and exposure to the modern technologies such as React, and pre processors such as PostCSS and LESS. You must also have experience in building for all devices, as our responsive projects are essential for the development of our websites.

Some experience in Node.js and Redux would be advantageous, as we keep up with ever changing technology where possible, and try to be ahead of the game.

Strong communication skills and a flexible approach are a must in our fast paced and agile environment. You will be pragmatic about when to spend time building the perfect solution and when to just get stuff done. Our ideal candidate would be somebody who can really move our business forward.

Software Engineers

Holiday Extras are looking for software engineers to come and use cutting edge technology to helps us revolutionise how customers (7 million and growing) travel better.

We’ve got a lot of great work to do and believe in using tried and tested tools that enable us to push the boundaries of what is possible, fast. You can expect to be working daily with Javascript, using continuous delivery tooling. If you’re updating and building in our back end we use Node.js® and if you’re jumping into our front end you’d be working with React.js and Redux.js, just to name a few technologies.

We know great Engineers can adapt to other tech quickly, so if javascript isn’t your thing right now that’s not a deal breaker as long as you want to learn! We build many of our tools in-house but also love open source so as well as taking much from the community you’ll find a lot of our codebase openly available on GitHub and how we work on our culture repo.

We’re in the process of moving to an API first micro services architecture and your skills and experience will be key in helping us achieve that, alongside helping us continue to deliver features that delight our customers and partners. We’ve got a lot of great work to do and believe in using tried and tested tools that enable us to push the boundaries of what is possible, fast. You can expect to be working daily building APIs with Javascript and Node.js®, using continuous delivery tooling and, if you’re feeling ambitious jumping into our front end and working with React.js and Redux.js. We build many of our tools in-house but also love open source so as well as taking much from the community you’ll find a lot of our codebase openly available on GitHub.
