Email Marketing Manager

We’re looking for an experienced Email Marketing Manager to join us on the Holiday Extras campus and lead our Email Team. Our award-winning Email Team at manages and delivers email communications to our 6 million subscribed customers; from direct and intermediary customers to our partnerships retail agents. These communications stretch across multiple brands and are for a variety of purposes such as sales, transactions and product information. We’re the channel by which our product, customer and commercial teams communicate at scale with their customers.

We think of ourselves as the curators of the customer journey. The emails we create and send are most customers’ most frequent exposure to our brand personality – they have to be good. To that end, we identify the right communication points and develop dynamic email designs that house the right content for the customer and our business. The frequency, relevancy and segmentation of our award-winning emails is of utmost importance. The workload is fast-paced, but the atmosphere is fun.

What you’ll be doing

You will be integral to developing the best email journeys with clarity, technology and usability at the forefront of your mind. You will have responsibility for a core part of our customer experience, developing plans to improve the experience to create a personalised “wow” effect. Working closely with the team and wider business, you will decide on what improvements or changes to launch, test or retire. As much as possible, everything we do should be driven by data; you’ve got to be inquisitive and hungry for data. You will form hypotheses on what success will look like and ensure you have the measurements in place to know the impact.

We want you to bring your brilliant coaching and management skills to drive the performance of our incredible Email Developers by helping the team achieve their goals and perform at their best. You will be motivating and inspiring and can expertly balance people’s individual needs with the needs of Holiday Extras.

You’ll have several years of experience managing people and have experience working within a digital marketing environment. You don’t necessarily have had to have been a Email Developer yourself, but you should have worked in an customer driven, agile environment where performance and delivery are key. As a motivated and ambitious team player you’ll champion the development and wellbeing of the Email Team and encourage them to be the best version themselves.

You’ll know what amazing looks (and feels) like. You’ll act as a delivery manager for campaigns and use data to make commercial marketing decisions, collaborating with our Email Strategist. You’ll be a champion of our brand and focused on how to inform and delight our customers. Creativity is key here; expressing our purpose and brand through creative and engaging content and imagery and driving the customer experience. We’re looking for amazing customer service experts to join our contact centre team, who will enjoy hitting both personal and business-wide targets, as well as delivering a customer service that not only delights our customers but also exceeds the standards expected by the brands themselves through a mystery shopping programme. You will be passionate about delivering great, personalised service through your tone of voice and the ability to really get to know your customers. PPC Online Advertising Optimiser

The Team

The PPC team are responsible for all paid online advertising at Holiday Extras. Using our portfolio of brands we drive growth and optimise performance in our campaigns by utilising leading technology, the latest analytical tools, and our passion for online advertising. We work closely with the major search engines such as Google & Microsoft, to ensure we are always at the forefront of development, and we invest a lot of time and resource in innovating and evolving our operation. We are responsible for delivering a large portion of Holiday Extras 4 million annual bookings, and we deliver these through an exciting mixture of analytical insight and marketing creativity.

You’ll be working for a top ten, Times Top 100 company in the heart of the Kentish countryside. Our custom-built campus in rural Hythe has a fabulous open-plan office space with kitted-out meeting rooms, a kitchen and canteen with pool table and a Wii, or you can chill out on the decking with a Holiday Extras deck chair in the summer. The Opportunity

You will work as part of our wider Business Insight (BI) team whose remit is to partner with the business to understand trading performance, inform stakeholders of threats and or opportunities, and influence key decision making.

 

You’ll already have analytical experience and a proven track record of contributing towards growth as well as an advanced knowledge of excel and strong data modelling skills (including forecasting). Prior knowledge of writing freehand SQL, appreciation of split testing best practices, and an awareness of various data visualisation tools are desired but not essential.

System Engineer

There has been an IT team as long as Holiday Extras has been around. We have a team of 11, made up of help desk, telephony and infrastructure who look after all aspects of IT from desktop support to networking, repairs and servers (the list goes on!).  We’re also responsible for ensuring we have wicked IT systems across the group. Our sole purpose in life is to make sure our systems are fast, smooth, cutting edge and up 100% of the time so our customers, both internally and externally, always have a smooth visit 24×7.

We are a key part of the business delivering the highest quality service and systems to all our customers, both inside and outside, using new types of technologies on our sites and systems. A System Engineer is responsible for all systems and servers running at Holiday Extras. We have a wide range of servers from Windows to Linux, all running in our 4 data centres and the cloud. We’re all about automation and self healing servers so you will be key to making this happen by using cool stuff like Chef, Cloudformation and other tools. Your expertise will be called on by all parts of the business to assist with projects and ideas along side making sure the current infrastructure runs like a well oiled machine. We are looking for an innovative Front End Developer to work in our growing web team who will be responsible for delivering robust and performant web solutions across our platform. You will have significant, proven capability in front end development with an in-depth knowledge of the basic front end technologies (HTML, CSS and JS) and exposure to the modern technologies such as React, and pre processors such as PostCSS and LESS. Holiday Extras are looking for software engineers to come and use cutting edge technology to helps us revolutionise how customers (7 million and growing) travel better.

We’ve got a lot of great work to do and believe in using tried and tested tools that enable us to push the boundaries of what is possible, fast. You can expect to be working daily with Javascript, using continuous delivery tooling. Holiday Extras are looking for experienced software engineers to come and use cutting edge technology to helps us revolutionise how customers (7 million and growing) travel better.

We’re in the process of moving to an API first micro services architecture and your skills and experience will be key in helping us achieve that, alongside helping us continue to deliver features that delight our customers and partners. We’ve got a lot of great work to do and believe in using tried and tested tools that enable us to push the boundaries of what is possible, fast. You can expect to be working daily building APIs with Javascript and Node.js®, using continuous delivery tooling and, if you’re feeling ambitious jumping into our front end and working with React.js and Redux.js. We build many of our tools in-house but also love open source so as well as taking much from the community you’ll find a lot of our codebase openly available on GitHub.

Here’s what we’re looking for:

  • You’re a “been there and done it” software engineer looking to make an positive impact on millions of people.
  • Experience of shipping software using technologies such as Javascript/Node.js®. Ideally, you also have experience in other languages which shows you curiosity to experiment and learn.
  • You have previously designed API’s and shipped HTTP and Pub/Sub Services.
  • A desire to understand the business and where it’s heading.
  • A track record of being solutions focussed and an excellent problem solver, not afraid to make decisions and act quickly.
  • Always determined to acquire new skills and learn.
  • You understand the value of open source as demonstrated in your Github profile.
  • Demonstrable interest and experience in microservices architecture and highly scalable distributed web platforms.
  • A pragmatic approach to software delivery, understanding the pros (and cons) of shipping early and often.
  • We’re flexible and open to you being office based or fully remote, with trips to the office every so often
